mmmm, caffeine

I haven't slept all that well this week. Even the one time I went to bed before 10pm I woke up at 3am, and barely made it back to sleep by 4:30, which didn't leave me a lot of time before my alarm rang. I'm not the type to greet the morning with a cup of coffee, it's not something I want to find myself dependent on, and besides, it gives me serious gut-rot if ingested on anything less than a full stomach, which usually doesn't happen, even tho I eat breakfast every morning. So this morning, I find myself dragging slower than I have in awhile. when I really can't keep from nodding off every 5 minutes, then I know there's a problem. In those cases, my usual remedy is taking decaf and a little bit of regular and usually just a 1/2 cup or so will do the trick, wake me up without driving me nuts. But not this morning....I drank the whole cup...waited about 15 minutes....nothing. So I went for drastic measures, and poured myself a cup of regular with a little decaf mixed in just so I don't overdose...drank the whole thing....waited, and while I was e-mailing my friend Melissa about how tired I was that coffee wasn't even working, everything started kicking in. The almost uncontrollable leg-bouncing, racing heart rate, and, best of all, the beloved gut-rot. Oh, and I haven't blinked in the last 5 minutes. This is good in that it will ensure that I will be awake to actually do my work, I just don't know if I'll be able to focus on anything for more than 23 seconds at a time....
