cowlick craziness

so i love my short haircut, i really do! I can choose not to do it and it looks fine, or I can straighten it and make it look slick, or I can even rock out a "faux-hawk" (never actually knew they had a name).

But I am finding that even with lots of product and trying to tame my hair the way I want it to, I run the risk of having a permanent cowlick. There seems to be a part of my hair in the back that can't decide if it should be brushed forward or laid down the back of my head, so it just sticks straight up. More than once in the last couple weeks I've gone to the restroom at work thinking everything's just fine, only to notice that I've got an extreme case of bedhead when I get in front of a mirror. It seriously looks like I rolled out of bed and came to work. Not that this is so far from the truth, but usually I can hide it a little better!

What am I to do? Wearing hats is good, but really, only for so long, then I start feeling scrubby. The amount of product I apply to my head does not seem to help. What do boys do when they have these problems?

On the bummer side, I totally missed my opportunity to dress up as Alfalfa for Halloween this year...is it too late to start this week over?
