There have been some ladies with whom I have been batting around the idea of starting up a running group, because we all like running, and we all like each other, so why not? It would also provide a possible avenue to reach out and meet new people as well, because we like new people too.
So Kathy posted the other day about meetup.com, and I looked, and there's not a single meet up group for running in Minneapolis, tho there's lots of interest, from what I can tell. Here's my thought - why not start up a running/jogging meetup group for girls of varying running abilities and maybe allow for several meetings through the week to accommodate different schedules, etc. so that we can get this show on the road and actually do it!?
I know I had run the idea past a couple people, and sorta got mixed reactions, but I think we can work through this. Who's with me? If you're interested at all let me know, maybe we put togetehr an informational meeting to talk about details and stuff...

I love the pun--"run the idea pas a couple people."
Hey - whose blog is this? Who took over Ann's blog??
Of course I'd be in! And I love the idea of having it be a group anyone, not just Rockers could join via Meetup.
First off... what's up with the sexism? Men run too.
Second... Running just to run is psycho.
Al, you like the new look? I'm just tryin' it out...
Carlson, what's up with the antagonism? First about my views on winter, now this? Running with women is just less intimidating than running with guys, that's why it'd be girls only. You could start your own "guys only" running group, if you were really that upset about it...
:-D
I'm too lazy to plan a group. Antagonizing people, however, that's easy.
Staring a running group is a great idea. I started a trail running group out herein SoCal last April so let me know if you have any questions... It can be slow going for a while getting members and lots will join but not run very often. Took about 6 months to get up to 20 members and 4-5 regular runners. We have over 50 members now in less than a year - but more than half of those came after I was in the paper.
Count me in - as long as you don't start running outside this weekend when it's going to be crazy cold!!
