I've been listening to the same cd in my car for the better part of a month now. Haven't taken it out, except for when it was too cold and wouldn't play. And the Vikings game, just real quick. It's Illuminate, by the David Crowder Band. This cd on the whole provides me with a lot of good memories and happy times. For one, we used 2 of the songs in our wedding. The other big part is that when we went to visit my brother in Connecticut in the fall, they would play this cd in their car whenever we went anywhere, and everywhere we happened to go was its own scenic drive, so I ended up listening to it several times over by the end of the week. It's now permanently connected to very happy memories for me.
There's only one problem. From the first time I heard one of the songs on the radio, I couldn't stand the way that David Crowder sings. His voice is ok, but he just seems to like to showboat and try to be original, and he ends up singing sorta like Capt. Kirk's talking, kinda...broken....up.
Yeah, don't care for that much. And there are other parts of the cd that annoy me, he likes having little instrumental add-ons to several of the songs to make them 2-5 minutes longer, and I don't see a point to it, and I think some of the lyrics of some of the songs are sorta weak. So every time I listen to the cd I find myself annoyed by it, but I can't seem to stop. I've played thru it more times lately than my new U2 cd, which is sort of a sad, almost tragic event. I'm usually such a musical snob that I wouldn't ever suffer to listen to a cd that I had artistic issues with, but maybe just this once my emotional ties have overruled all musical objections.
