i've never particularly enjoyed or despised vacuuming, it's just one of those necessary chores, like shaving your legs - you have to do it every once in awhile, otherwise things get hairy and people stare. Last night I had the best time vacuuming ever, and it all sort of started as a fluke. I went downstairs to put in a video and do some yoga, but found out that our tv and DVD/VCR player weren't working, so I checked the fuse box, that looked ok, I flipped on all the other switches to make sure that nothing else is wrong. All the other lights were working, and I ended up walking into the laundry room to just an obscene amount of dead waterbugs hanging in a spiderweb dangling under the freezer, which is about the first thing you see when you walk in the door. I've noticed that there were these collections of waterbug carcasses amassing under the appliances in the laundry room, and it was about to drive me nuts. So the vacuum was right there, and in sheer frustration I plugged it in, put on the tiny host attachment, and went to it.
It was cleansing, in a way, to be able to rid my floors, walls, and ceilings of all the grossest things. There were LOTS of dead bugs, some living ones, which were nice, and then a general assortment of lint, cobwebs, and other things that you really don't care to see lying around. I never thought I could get such a charge out of sucking up a bunch of stuff! There was even a spider that decided to come running out from under the wall, maybe to see what was going on? Not bright, because *shwoosh!* up the hose he went, and I didn't feel sorry at all.
Afterwards, I dumped the canister and gave the little part that holds the filter a nice wash and dry, and put in a badly needed new filter. It was well deserved. I don't think I'll ever be able to take my vacuum for granted again.
Oh, and the TV and DVD player apparently got fried during the storm on Tuesday afternoon. I've never had so many electrical issues ever! Either we're losing power for hours or days at a time, or it starts surging and destroying things. I think it's about time we look for the lesson in all of this.....maybe we're supposed to be Amish?

Hey - If you have a lot of electrical stuff fried it may be covered under your homeowners insurance. Just FYI - alexis
