sometimes it seems like nothing exciting happens in Minneapolis, no good shows or concerts, and goodness knows the sports teams aren't really anything to get excited over...but then October comes, and apparently every good musical act that I would even have a whisper of interest in seeing comes to town.
Just at First Ave alone:
Death Cab for Cutie on 10/10-11
Mike Doughty on 10/12
Son Volt on 10/13
Mae on 10/18
not to mention LCD soundsystem, The Decemberists, and Ben Folds. It looks like First Ave is definitely back up and running, which is good to see...
and then at the Quest:
Armin van Burin tonight! (really kick-ass DJ)
Chevelle on 10/18
and The Juliana Theory on 10/21, which I'm still deciding if I want that to be my birthday present.
and even at Club 3Degrees:
Thousand Foot Krutch 10/7
Joy Electric 10/15
So really, I wish I had about $150 for concerts and merch, and a lot more free evenings.

no, unfortunately...I was going to go either see Mae or the Juliana Theory for my birthday, but I'm choosing Mae's CD because I have a feeling that if I go to the concert, it'll just make me want their CD even more, and then I'd have to wait until Christmas at the earliest to get it. So it's a matter of delayed gratification, and how I don't like that! =)
