so i was reading this morning, and came across one of those statements that just stops you cold.
"Jesus Christ hates the wrong in man, and Calvary is the estimate of His hatred. "
It's Oswald Chambers of course, and the reading that came before it was about how Calvary wasn't Jesus standing with man against God out of sympathy, it was him doing what was necessary - not optional, not avoidable, but utterly imperative for any of us to get close to God once Adam had fallen. To think of the cross and the death that Jesus endured as something intentional, pre-meditated, entirely grasped and agreed to is awesome to me. It's awful as well, thinking that I still cling so tightly to some of those things that he hates, those things cost him everything to buy my freedom, but I'll still justify keeping them around for a little while longer.
If I could only plainly see the wrong things for what they truly are, and understand how disgusting it looks for me to wear the chains and bonds that Jesus already unlocked and is waiting for me to just shake off and walk away.
