i had the tv on last night to create background noise while i worked on the jigsaw puzzle that i recently started. (yes I do have an exciting life, thank you very much!) As I was looking for suitable background noise that wouldn't annoy be by being a stupid tv show (like Everybody Loves Raymond, yuck!) I came across the WB's own reality show Beauty and the Geek. Apparently they're showing all the episodes from last season to get ready for the 2nd season starting next week. I've never heard of this show, but it was intriguing, so I let it stay on. By the end of the hour, I was ignoring my puzzle and watching the Beauties strut down a catwalk in the clothing that their fashion-impaired Geek partners had picked out for them. The guys had like 24 hours or something to cram their heads full of fashion knowledge and then were sent shopping for evening and casual wear, and a swimsuit. And then the girls had to try them on and show off in front of judges from the fashion world.
I like that show a lot. The guys and girls are paired up to do challenges and hopefully stay in the house. Some of the guys are truly geeky (the VP of the Dukes of Hazzard fan club?) some of them were actually good looking and seemed to have decent social skills. The girls were models or beer spokespeople or NBA dancers, and it was cool to see them interact and have fun. They all seemed to get along, and the girls kept saying how they loved the guys and would never have bothered with them otherwise but they're all learning so much about other people and blah blah blah. I don't know how much I believe all of it (them all thinking the same thing and no drama? What kind of reality show is this really?!) but it's entertaining. Tonight's episode shows the girls giving the guys total makeovers, clothes, hair, the works. I have GOT to see that!
