really, is there anything more disappointing than being really really hungry and washing off a nectarine, anticipating sweet juiciness that will distract my tummy for the next 1/2 hour until lunch time - and then have it be tastless and pulpy?

I bought 2 nectarines on Sunday, waited until they were soft, and I think this one is actually overripe now! I was going with the nectarines because the peaches at the store were absolutely gross, and I haven't had a nectarine for a really long time due to some unrecallable predisposal against them. Ben had posted praises to their deliciousness, so I thought I'd give it another shot.

This isn't quite working in favor of nectarines. As much as I would like to keep eating it because I did spend the money on it and all, it's just kinda gross - a little bit like chewing a mouthful of slightly flavored paper.

I think I had misunderstood the subtle differences between the peach and the nectarine. Not only does the fuzziness separate them, but apparently while peaches are better slightly soft, which tells of their ripeness, Nectarines go soft when they're getting old, and are actually better to eat when hard, kinda like an apple. My 2nd nectarine had some sweetness to it, it was a little harder than the first. I'll have to continue to test the theory to make sure it's correct now - I guess I'm buying more nectarines!
